Weber apprentices support Children's and Youth Hospice

"It was important for us to not only present the different professions and the apprenticeship at Weber, but also to do something good. Due to the large number of visitors, such a day is of course an ideal opportunity for this," explains Hanna Jacobi, who is completing her apprenticeship as an electronics technician at Weber in her 3rd year. Said, done! Apprentices from all training areas participated with great commitment in order to jointly design and build a goal wall. Football enthusiasts could try their luck for 1 Euro and win various prizes depending on the number of goals. These prizes were provided by neighbouring companies, which the apprentices won as sponsors in advance. Together with the proceeds from the visitors' turning of a wheel of fortune, a donation of 700 euros was raised to benefit the Children's and Youth Hospice Balthasar in Olpe.

During the symbolic handing over of the cheque, Lisa-Marie Vetter, Public Relations Officer at the hospice, explained that the money would be used to finance accompanying services such as music therapy, excursions or visits of the clinic clowns. "For our work here we are dependent on donations. Unfortunately, this already refers to the daily care of the children as only 50 percent of this is subsidised by public health care. Everything else, including the stay of parents and siblings, is exclusively financed by donations", Vetter describes. It is already small things, which provide for much joy with the children and get them out of their everyday care life. The donation of the Weber apprentices will certainly make many eyes shine. Also the Weber team is happy about the social commitment of the apprentices: The trainers are very proud of the commitment of their protégés, who worked so well together as a team to get this project off the ground, reports Christian Hartmann, trainer at Weber. In addition, they are particularly pleased that every euro they earned will do something good at the right place.
